CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — A cherished icon of the music world recently made an unexpected appearance, delighting fans at a concert featuring two of his all-time favorite groups.

Candy Foster, a well-known figure in the Champaign-Urbana music scene, has long shared his vocal talents throughout the Midwest. Despite his extensive career, Foster enjoys attending live performances. So, when friends extended an invitation to see The Four Tops and The Temptations at the State Farm Center, he eagerly accepted, unaware of the surprise in store for him.

Foster, who grew up listening to both bands, counts them among his favorites. At 87, the opportunity to join them on stage was a dream come true, making him feel right at home amid an enthusiastic audience.

“I have to say, performing at the Champaign State Farm Center was a remarkable experience,” Foster expressed. “The audience’s response was incredible. A musician even mentioned to me that my ovation surpassed that of the show itself.”
