SAVANNAH, Ga. — Small Business Saturday brought a wave of appreciation and support for mom-and-pop establishments throughout the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry.
In Savannah, The Fancy Pheasant was among the many local shops that marked the occasion with special discounts. Kristy Crill, who owns Dive Savannah, made it her first stop of the day.
“Shopping locally creates lasting memories that far surpass anything you can purchase,” Crill shared.
For the past three years, The Fancy Pheasant has been a cherished spot in the community, showcasing products from over 50 local artisans and small companies, according to Crill.
Kristen Harkleroad, owner of The Fancy Pheasant, expressed her enthusiasm for Small Business Saturday, calling it her favorite day of the year. She emphasized that Savannah’s charm is deeply rooted in its small businesses.
“That is what gives Savannah its charm is our local small businesses,” Harkleroad said. “That is the reason why people come back here. They don’t come back to Savannah to just shop at box stores. They love to meet the owners and the makers of these products. That’s what gives it so much of its charm. I think it’s really important that everyone go somewhere today that you’ve never been before.”
Harkleroad said even leaving a positive review or sharing a small business with friends can make a big impact.
