TAMPA, Fla. (WJW) — Lynn Ban, who starred in Netflix’s reality show “Bling Empire: New York,” has died weeks after a skiing accident and emergency brain surgery.

Ban, who according to her website was a jewelry designer with more than 25 years in the fashion industry, was 52.

Her son Sebastian took to Instagram Wednesday morning to announce the death and honor his mother’s life.

“She was and always will be my best friend, the best mother to me, and someone who cared for all. She always had a smile on her face even when times were tough during her recovery process. She was a fighter until the end and is the strongest woman I know,” the post said. “She was the funniest and coolest mum I could ever ask for. She took care of me, my dad, and our Entire family throughout her whole life.”

Ban was involved in a skiing accident in Aspen on Christmas Eve. On Dec. 30, she posted a picture of herself in a hospital bed with a half-shaven head to Instagram.

“I had a ski accident that would change my life,” she wrote.

She went on to say while she was skiing with her family, she caught the tip of her ski and face planted. Luckily, she said, she was wearing a helmet and was able to ski down the mountain where she was checked for a concussion and cleared by ski patrol.

“I had a bit of a headache but thought after lunch it would be fine and I could ski again. The paramedic suggested I go to the hospital for a cat scan. This saved my life,” she wrote.

Ban wrote that within 30 minutes she learned she had a brain bleed and was airlifted to a trauma hospital.

“Last thing I remember was being intubated and waking up after an emergency craniotomy.”

She ended her post recognizing she had a “long road of recovery ahead,” but said she’s a survivor and was grateful and blessed to see a new year.

Ban died Monday, Jan. 20, her son said.

“Although she may be gone now, I will do everything I can to make sure she is never forgotten and for her life to be celebrated as it deserves to be. As a final message to my mum, I would just like to say that I will miss you forever and to end in something she always told me ‘I love you more than life itself’ mum,” he wrote.

Ban was a cast member on “Bling Empire: New York” which ran for one season in 2023 and featured a group of Asian America socialites flaunting “their fortunes — and fashions — while bringing the drama and living it up in New York City,” according to Netflix’s overview of the show.

According to her website, Ban’s jewelry has been worn by the likes of Rihanna, Beyonce, Cardi B, Billie Eilish, Lady Gaga, Madonna and more.
