In Macon County, Illinois, progress on the long-anticipated Beltway project, which commenced several years ago, is currently on hold. This ambitious endeavor aims to create a 22-mile loop encircling the City of Decatur. However, work has been paused as local authorities reassess which sections of the road should take priority in terms of funding and development.
Initially, the project was set to unfold in phases, beginning with the construction of Busch College Road. Plans, however, have shifted, prompting city officials to consider a different starting point for the continuation of the beltway.
