MAHOMET, Ill. (WCIA) — Some started their Mother’s Day morning with mindfulness in Mahomet. Flow Yoga welcomed families in for movement and mimosas.
Staff said it’s a way to bring people together and celebrate moms, including one of their own. Shannan Hicks taught the class where her two sons sat in the front row.
“I love that they’re supporting me and being part of it,” Hicks said. “Being in touch with yourself and slowing down your mind can really help you in all facets of your life, so I’m glad to pass that on to them.”
Her 13-year-old son, John Fletcher, made it known how grateful he is for Hicks.
“I appreciate that she does the most for us and is very selfless — always puts her kids first,” Fletcher said.
21-year-old Wyatt Kenyon set up his yoga mat near his mom’s at the front of the room. He said the Mother’s Day event is a good way to give back to Hicks and all she’s done for him.
“I just like to be able to support her,” Kenyon said. “I see how much effort she puts into it and time, so just being able to be here with her, especially on Mother’s Day.”
Flow Yoga is days away from celebrating their one-year anniversary. Staff said they hope to keep the Mother’s Day tradition alive for years to come.
