MAHOMET, Ill. (WCIA) — A former pitcher from Mahomet-Seymour High School is advancing his baseball career, moving on to compete at a higher level in college sports.
Alex Bergman, who recently showcased his skills as a Cobra at Parkland College, is set to join the Miami University Redhawks in Ohio this fall. After making a significant impact at Parkland, including a notable appearance at the NJCAA DII World Series this season, Bergman is ready for the challenges of Division I baseball.
Bergman credits his time at Mahomet-Seymour and Parkland for equipping him with the skills needed to thrive at the next level.
“Having a coach who can prepare you for important moments is invaluable,” Bergman said, referring to Parkland’s head coach Zack Pych. “In baseball, it’s all about those critical late-game situations. At Mahomet, there’s a legacy of success with many players advancing, which sets a high standard. That’s what makes it special.”
This year, the Redhawks entered the MAC Tournament as the top seed but faced an early exit after a surprising upset.
While at Mahomet-Seymour, Bergman helped the Bulldogs win two regional titles and one sectional title.
