MAHOMET, Ill. (WCIA) – Mahomet-Seymour volleyball hoisted the 3A state trophy at the end of its 2024 season.
The Bulldogs graduated some valuable seniors, but return a whole bunch of talent. That talent includes, but is not limited to, Purdue commit Lily Bosworth.
“I walk out there each time and I’m here to make a difference, I’m here to make that point, make that play and I know myself and I know I can do it,” Bosworth said.
The Bulldogs also bring back Ava Yeakel, Erin Dallas, Hannah Martin, Addy Reigart and other contributors to the 3A title run from last season.
Plus, they hope to see younger players step up.
MSHS head volleyball coach Stan Bergman has been coaching volleyball for more than 30 years, with 20+ of those years being the leader of the program in Mahomet.
“He’s very stern like, he’ll say it how it is, but he has a soft spot and he’s just a great coach,” Dallas said.
Bergman knows last year’s success won’t count for points or wins this year, but has already learned the 2025 squad is tough.
“Resilience,” he said of what he’s learned about his team through less than two weeks of practice. “They’ve really been able to overcome a few things here and there… The anticipation of that first match. They’re really ready to get back on the court together”
The Bulldogs open the season on Tuesday Aug. 26 against Kankakee.
