Major Drug Bust in Bristol: Authorities Seize Significant Fentanyl and Meth Haul

On Monday night, a notable drug bust took place in Bristol, Virginia, as the Bristol Virginia Police Department (BVPD), in collaboration with the Holston River Task Force, arrested two men during a traffic stop. This operation, part of an ongoing narcotics investigation, led to the seizure of a substantial amount of fentanyl.

As reported by the BVPD, officers pulled over a pickup truck around 11:30 p.m. The stop was executed under a search warrant targeting both the vehicle and its occupants. The individuals inside were identified as 28-year-old Brandon Lee Booher of Bristol, Virginia, and 23-year-old Jeffery A. Reynolds of Bristol, Tennessee.

During the search of the vehicle, law enforcement discovered approximately six ounces of suspected fentanyl, about one ounce of methamphetamine, a loaded Glock 22 .40-caliber handgun, and $104 in cash. These findings underscore the seriousness of the drug operation.

Chief D. Byron Ashbrook emphasized the gravity of the situation in a statement, noting, “This was a significant seizure of an extremely dangerous drug. The amount of fentanyl recovered in this case is enough to potentially kill thousands of people, and stopping it before it reached our streets likely saved lives.”

According to the BVPD, Booher was charged with the following and is being held without bond:

Transporting Controlled Substances into the Commonwealth
Possession of a Firearm While in Possession of Drugs
Possession with Intent to Distribute Fentanyl

Reynolds was charged with the following and is also being held without bond:

Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine
Transporting Controlled Substances into the Commonwealth
False Identification to Law Enforcement
Fugitive from Justice / Warrant of Extradition, wanted out of Tennessee

The BVPD was assisted in this investigation by the Washington County Virginia Sheriff’s Office, the Virginia State Police, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), according to the release.
