URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — There has been a heavy police presence near Victory Park in Urbana for the past five hours, with ongoing negotiations with a man inside of a residence.

This police presence is at the intersection of S Lynn and E Green Streets. According to police, they are serving a warrant and have been in negotiations with a man in a house for the past five hours. Police also said there is someone else in the house with him.

WCIA’s photographer on scene saw police bring in tools to gain entry into a building and heard someone on the phone trying to get a person to come out of a building.

The Urbana Police Department, Champaign Police Department and Illinois State Police are all currently on scene. WCIA reached out to Urbana Police Chief Larry Boone for additional information on this incident, and he declined to comment.

There is no further information at this time.
