BRISTOL, Va. (WJHL) — The Bristol Virginia Police Department (BVPD) responded to Cumberland Square Park on Thursday afternoon after reports that a male had been stabbed.

A release from BVPD said officers arrived at the park at 4:20 p.m. and discovered a male victim with a stab wound to the chest. Officers provided first aid until rescue units arrived, the release said.

Witnesses at the scene gave officers information about the stabbing suspect. The officers then located Jessica Burker walking on Martin Luther King Blvd.

Burker was charged with one count of aggravated malicious wounding and taken to the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail in Abingdon. She has no bond.

The male victim was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The release said he is in stable condition.
