METTER, Ga. () — A 48-year-old man has been indicted in a Candler County cold case that’s over 14 years old, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) announced Monday.
On Dec. 10, 2010, the GBI was requested to assist the Candler County Sheriff’s Office with a death investigation after a body was found in a rural area off Jones Road.
CCSO deputies found a vehicle near the scene, which belonged to 21-year-old Harrison Wayne Olliff, a GBI spokesperson said. Olliff had been reported missing on Nov. 25, 2010, to the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office.
His body was discovered near his vehicle, a GBI spokesperson said.
Though the case went cold for around 14 years, the GBI recently obtained new information that reportedly implicated 48-year-old Paul Thomas Reinberg.
After the GBI and the Middle Georgia Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office decided that it should be presented to a Grand Jury, the Candler County Gand Jury indicted Reinburg for his alleged involvement in Olliff’s murder.
His exact charges were not immediately available.
Reinberg is reportedly in the custody of the Georgia Department of Corrections on unrelated charges.
