MARION COUNTY, Fla. – A man arrested Monday in Marion County is accused of sexually abusing a 15-year-old girl, according to the sheriff’s office.

Roberto Maurizio Stracuzzi, 56, faces charges of unlawful use of a two-way communications device, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and two counts each of lewd of lascivious conduct, lewd or lascivious exhibition over a computer service, use of a child in a sexual performance, transmitting material harmful to a minor and possession of child pornography, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

The victim said she met Stracuzzi on July 18 at a neighborhood pool, where they exchanged Snapchat information.

Stracuzzi began messaging the girl on Snapchat and transitioned the conversation to a sexual nature, going on to send — as well as receive and save — sexually-explicit content across multiple apps, according to the sheriff’s office. Stracuzzi would use FaceTime to further sexually abuse the girl and used WhatsApp to solicit her for sexual activity, attempting to get the girl to plan to sneak out of her home while her mother was asleep, the sheriff’s office said.

Detective Paxton reviewed the conversations between Stracuzzi and the victim and developed probable cause for his arrest.

During an interview, Stracuzzi corroborated the victim’s statements about how they met and that they had communicated online. He initially stated their conversations were only about his daughter but ultimately admitted to each aspect of the sexual abuse.

Stracuzzi is being held on no bond, according to the sheriff’s office.

News of Stracuzzi’s arrest follows that of 40 other men who Marion County Sheriff Billy Woods said Wednesday were caught attempting to meet minors for sex.
