In Savannah, Georgia, a Chatham County jury has indicted a local man following a series of serious charges stemming from an attempted traffic stop that escalated into a dangerous chase. Judson Lamar Hendry III, aged 41, faces a range of accusations including two counts of fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, hit and run, obstruction of an officer, driving under the influence of alcohol, and driving with a suspended license.
The incident, which occurred on November 30, 2025, in the town of Thunderbolt, began when Hendry allegedly refused to comply with a traffic stop. The situation quickly intensified as he reportedly sped across the Wilmington River Bridge on Highway 80, ignoring the officers’ attempts to halt him.
As the pursuit unfolded, Hendry is accused of employing a dangerous tactic known as brake-checking, attempting to thwart the pursuing officer by abruptly stopping his vehicle. This maneuver took place within the residential confines of the Isle of Armstrong neighborhood, complicating the pursuit further.
According to court documents, Hendry’s reckless driving did not end there. In the midst of his flight, he allegedly collided with another car in the neighborhood but chose to continue his escape rather than stop to address the incident.

According to court records, he also hit a car while in the neighborhood and continued driving away.
Hendry was denied bond, with the grounds for denial being listed as a risk of fleeing from the jurisdiction or the court or failing to appear.
He is expected back in court on March 27, 2026, for arraignment.
