GREENEVILLE, Tenn. (WJHL) — The Greeneville Police Department (GPD) told News Channel 11 on Saturday that a man who allegedly attempted to rob a Dollar General at knifepoint remains at large and should be considered armed and dangerous.
A statement from the GPD said the robbery attempt took place at 243 W. Summer Street around 11:28 a.m.
“According to the store clerk and surveillance video, a white male entered the store and brandished a knife, demanding money from the cash register,” the statement reads. “When the clerk did not open the register fast enough, the suspect then punched her in the face, knocking her to the ground.”
The GPD said the man then exited the store and ran away on foot. The statement said he did not leave with any money.
Police said the man should be considered armed and dangerous and remains at large. He reportedly has a medium build and medium height and was wearing blue jeans, a black hoodie, and a white mask.
This is a developing story.
