Still no suspect in custody after deadly Christmas shooting in Decatur

In Decatur, Illinois, a tragic incident unfolded on Christmas evening, drawing the attention of local law enforcement. Responding to reports of gunfire shortly after 5 p.m., Decatur Police officers arrived at the scene to find a 32-year-old man deceased. The somber discovery marked a violent turn to what is traditionally a day of celebration.

Sergeant Jason Danner of the Decatur Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division shed light on the circumstances surrounding the event. “The altercation began inside the residence and escalated to gunfire,” Danner explained, indicating a heated argument led to the fatal outcome.
