CLINTON, Ill. (WCIA) — It’s a dream for many business owners to expand and offer more services. This summer, a farm in DeWitt County will get the chance to complete its goal.

Mariah’s Mums and More in Clinton bought an extra five acres of land to have more attractions for visitors. Mariah Anderson, the owner, said this will allow them to put in a Lavender Labyrinth, a kids play area, upgrade parking and more.

Anderson said they sell flowers, strawberries and more. The family business started out as a side hustle more than a decade ago but now they’re growing each year. Now, seeing their dream finally come true is amazing.

“We’ve been actually wanting to expand the footprint for several years. We’ve just haven’t had the opportunity present itself. And then, this past fall that opportunity opened up. And so we kept it really quiet. We weren’t sure if it was all going to work out, but at the end of the day, it did,” Anderson said.

She said in 2009 they started out with 300 mums and now are growing more than 20,000 plants over the years. She said the new features are supposed to be done by the end of July. The farm opens up this weekend.
