NEW YORK (PIX11) – The United States Department of Agriculture has issued a recall for more than 60,000 pounds of chicken that were distributed across the nation. This recall was announced on Friday and involves fully cooked, bone-in, breaded chicken products.
The affected chicken was produced by a food processing plant located in Suwanee, Georgia. It was discovered that these products contain soy, a known allergen, which was not listed on the product labels, leading to the recall.
The oversight was brought to light when the company informed the Food Safety and Inspection Service. They revealed that the mislabeled chicken, which included soy, had been mistakenly categorized with a non-allergen product code, highlighting the critical nature of accurate food labeling.
The issue was discovered when the company notified the Food Safety and Inspection Service that mislabeled chicken containing soy was assigned a non-allergen product code, officials said.
To date, no confirmed reports of adverse reactions have been reported.
