Massive Sinkhole Emerges on Vermilion County Road After Severe Flooding

In Newell Township, Illinois, a section of County Road 2750 East, located just east of Bismarck, is currently closed indefinitely. The closure is due to a significant sinkhole that emerged after recent flooding severely undermined the roadway.

Newell Township Highway Commissioner Tom Golden was on the scene addressing hazardous road conditions and setting up warning signs when he noticed an alarming crack. Concerned about the road’s integrity, Golden decided to investigate further.
