MARIETTA, Ga. ()- A ribbon cutting will take place for MCG Atlanta at WellStar Kennestone.

It’s the newest two-year clinical campus of the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University.

This campus is MCG’s first in the Atlanta area and it’s a collaboration between AU and Wellstar Health System.

Students from MCG at Augusta University have already done rotations at Wellstar Kennestone in Marietta for about ten years.

Now this new two year regional campus will allow third and fourth year med students to stay there.

They will live and learn on that campus during their clinical part of their medical education.

The dean for MCG explains why this is beneficial for students.

“This, you know, provides the students more clinical experience in a in a very well-run hospital system. WellStar Kennestone, it’s a tertiary care hospital. So they see a wide range of medical conditions, very complicated medical surge, OBGYN.”

The ribbon cutting takes place at 11am in Marietta. A new dean for that campus will be announced as well.
