PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — OSF HealthCare in Peoria is preparing for a leadership change as Sister M. Mikela Meidl is set to assume the role of president following the retirement of the current CEO this spring.

The transition, announced on Monday, coincides with Bob Sehring’s planned retirement in April, marking a significant shift in the organization’s executive team.

According to OSF Healthcare, Sister M. Mikela will step into the president’s role as Michelle Conger, the current president, will ascend to the position of CEO, succeeding Sehring.

Sister M. Mikela joined the Sisters of St. Francis of the Martyr St. George in 1986 and is well-qualified with a bachelor’s degree in nursing and a master’s in business administration focusing on healthcare management.

Her extensive experience includes serving as a director of nursing and later as an administrator at a 114-bed skilled nursing facility managed by her religious community in St. Louis. She also held the positions of CEO and president at Saint Anthony’s Health Center in Alton, Ill., prior to her 12-year tenure with OSF HealthCare.

Sister M. Mikela has served on the OSF HealthCare System Board. She is currently the executive vice president and chief ministry officer, overseeing Legal Services and Mission Services. That includes Ethics, Mission Formation, Pastoral Care, Government Relations, Economic Development, Compliance and Internal Audit.

In the role of president, the statement said she will, “serve as the strategic partner to the CEO, helping strengthen the OSF Mission culture while guiding executive priorities, facilitating key decisions and serving as a key liaison to the Governing Board, the Catholic Church and Mission Partners across the Ministry.”

Conger who has worked with Sister M. Mikela for more than 10 years said, “I am confident of her leadership and her ability to help guide OSF HealthCare as we continue our Mission to serve ith the greatest care and love.”
