BRISTOL, Va. (WJHL) — The Bristol, Virginia City Council voted to censure member Michael Pollard over his previous comments about the city manager.

A censure is a formal reprimand of a public official.

In a social media post earlier this month, Pollard apologized and admitted that he violated the council’s code of ethics by sharing information and also criticizing and lying about City Manager and City Attorney Randall Eads.

Eads later called Pollard’s apology “sufficient.”

Tuesday night, Vice Mayor Jake Holmes told News Channel 11 that the council appreciates Pollard’s “earnestness” in talking about the matter and for apologizing.

“We hope that with this done, we can move on and work together as a five-member council and put this behind us,” Holmes said.

Pollard declined to comment to News Channel 11 at the meeting.
