In Chatham County, Georgia, legal proceedings are advancing in the high-profile case involving Mark Stegall. Following discussions among the legal teams on Tuesday, a pre-trial date has been tentatively scheduled.
The case traces back to a tragic incident on Memorial Day 2022 when Stegall, allegedly under the influence, crashed a boat into another vessel, resulting in the tragic deaths of five individuals on the Wilmington River.
On Tuesday, lawyers convened to determine the duration of the trial, estimating that it will span approximately seven days.
Due to the anticipated length of the proceedings, an official trial date has not yet been confirmed.
Currently, the pre-trial is set to commence on October 19, 2026, at 9 a.m. However, the judge has indicated that this date may be subject to change, contingent on the scheduling of the trial itself.
Stegall is facing the following charges:
