Metter Girls Triumph Over Terrell County to Secure Spot in State Semifinals

METTER, Ga. () — In an exhilarating showdown, the Metter girls basketball team clinched a spot in the GHSA Class A Division II semifinals with a thrilling 50-46 victory over Terrell County on their home court.

Initially trailing by four points at both halftime and the end of the third quarter, the Lady Tigers mounted an impressive comeback, outpacing Terrell County 18-10 in the final quarter to secure their advancement to the next stage of the competition.

Metter is set to face off against either Emanuel County Institute or Washington-Wilkes on March 6 at 5 p.m. The game will be hosted at Fort Valley State University.

Meanwhile, in other quarterfinal matchups, Jenkins faced a 60-42 defeat against Pickens, echoing their previous 2025 quarterfinal clash.

Over in Hinesville, the Bradwell Institute’s flawless season met an abrupt halt. The Lady Tigers, despite a six-point lead in the fourth quarter, succumbed to last year’s state champions, River Ridge, with a final score of 50-48.

Out in Toombs County, Vidalia came up short against Elbert County, 61-38.
