MATTOON, Ill. (WCIA) — A family in Michigan is trying to bring their relative back home after he was hit and killed in Mattoon last month.

The Coles County Sheriff’s Office said on July 23, 35-year-old Earon Criswell of Mattoon was riding a mini bike near the corner of Old State Road and County Road 400 East. They said he was hit by an SUV and died two days later in Carle Hospital.

Earon is originally from Detroit, and now his family is asking for help in getting him back to his hometown.

“I would say my dad was a very strong, kind, supportive man,” said Earyies Criswell, Earon’s oldest daughter. “He was more than just a father, he was more like my hero, our hero. He was like our ‘Superman,’ like we like to say.”

The Criswells said donations received will help cover funeral expenses and a proper burial for Earon. To donate to the GoFundMe page the family set up, click here.
