A recent incident in Minneapolis saw an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer shoot a man in the leg during a traffic stop that turned into a confrontation involving three people, as reported by the Department of Homeland Security.
According to sources from NewsNation, the injured man was in the country illegally and was specifically targeted by ICE. The shooting took place on 27th Avenue North when two other individuals allegedly attacked the ICE officer.
The Department of Homeland Security released a statement detailing that the event occurred at 6:50 p.m. The ICE officers were attempting to stop the man, identified as an “illegal alien from Venezuela,” during their operation.
The Venezuelan man reportedly tried to evade capture by fleeing on foot after colliding his vehicle with a parked car. In the ensuing struggle, he is said to have attacked the ICE officer, with two others joining the fray using a snow shovel and broom handle.
