A late-night blaze in Beaufort County has resulted in one injury and has temporarily displaced a family of five, according to local authorities.

In the early hours just past midnight, multiple emergency services including the Burton Fire District, MCAS Fire & Emergency Services, Beaufort County EMS, and the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office were called to respond to a fire at The Bay mobile home park on Shanklin Road. The incident occurred as a family was preparing to retire for the night when they detected smoke accumulating in their residence.

Upon their arrival, emergency crews found smoke emanating from the mobile home. Residents and neighbors were already on the scene, attempting to suppress the flames that were originating from beneath the structure. Thanks to swift action by the firefighters, the fire was successfully extinguished before it could cause significant damage to the interior of the home.

While no serious injuries were reported, one adult female was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure for non-life-threatening injuries. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation as officials work to determine what sparked the incident.

The fire is currently under investigation.
