CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — After a stint with Washington in 2025, Ethan Moczulski is poised to take on the role of starting kicker for Illinois in 2026.

Back in 2024, Moczulski primarily managed kickoff duties for the Illini, while David Olano was responsible for most of the field goals.

“It means a lot, definitely have a lot of respect for these coaches,” Moczulski expressed. “Many coaches might not welcome a player back after they’ve left, but since we parted on such positive terms, it really makes a difference.”

Illinois special teams coach Chris Hurd remarked, “With Ethan, we were already familiar with his character, and that’s crucial for us.” He added, “We aim to integrate individuals who align with our program’s values. Ethan is someone who takes care of his responsibilities, follows through, and puts in the work.”

Moczulski also holds the record for the longest field goal in Illini history, having nailed a 59-yard attempt against Central Michigan in 2024.
