FORD COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — Ameren crews are actively searching for the cause of a power outage that left over 1,000 impacted in Ford County.

At approximately 7:44 p.m., about half of Gibson City lost power. According to an Ameren representative, the issue was resolved at approximately 8:16 p.m. by switching those affected to a different power line.

Ford County EMA, Terry Whitebird, was in contact with the Fire Chief in Sibley and was trying to reach people in Gibson City to figure out how many people were impacted. Whitebird was also organizing a response by creating more warming centers for residents who had lost power.

Whitebird said, if need be, two possible warming center locations would be at the Sibley and Gibson City Fire Departments.
