Driver arrested for DUI near Gate 5 at Washington, Old Berckmans Road

AUGUSTA, Ga. () – A woman was arrested for Driving Under the Influence near Gate 5 at Washington Road and Old Berckmans Road on Tuesday, according to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.

Julie T. Dicks, 35, is accused of “traveling in the center turn lane on Washington Road, appearing to use it to bypass traffic.” A RCSO deputy saw this and proceeded to conduct a traffic stop.,

A statement from RCSO on April 8 alleges Dicks “immediately turned into Gate 5 off Washington Road near Old Berckmans Road.” She reportedly encountered a dead end and was taken to Charles B. Webster Detention Center without incident.

According to the RCSO, Dicks was previously arrested for DUI on Feb. 17, 2025.

“At no point during this event were patrons or members of the public placed at risk,” RCSO said. “The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office works in close partnership with Augusta National Security to ensure the safety of all patrons during the Masters Tournament.”
