MT. ZION, Ill. (WCIA) — After a year of anticipation, Wyatt Trump is eager to seize his opportunity to compete at O’Brien Field once again.
Last season, Trump aimed to qualify in all four of his events at the Class 2A state sectionals, focusing particularly on his two hurdle races. Unfortunately, he only advanced in the 4×800-meter relay.
“The sectionals last year were a challenging experience for me,” Trump shared. “But it served as motivation, helping me understand the physical and mental demands required to succeed.”
This year, Trump triumphed by qualifying in all four events, including the 110-meter and 300-meter hurdles, securing his place at the prestigious Big Blue Track.
“As it’s my senior year, I’m really aiming to enjoy every moment,” Trump expressed. “I want to cherish this final meet with my longtime coach and the team that has supported me through this journey.”
Mt. Zion will compete in the Class 2A boys’ prelims on Friday, May 29 at EIU’s O’Brien Field.
