NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Metro agencies hope a new traffic management plan will make getting around downtown easier and safer.

Starting this week, the Metro Nashville Police Department, WeGo Public Transit, the Nashville Department of Transportation and Multimodal Infrastructure and other agencies will implement their pilot plan every Friday and Saturday night downtown.

The plan aims to make getting around Lower Broadway efficiently on weekends and game days when the Tennessee Titans play at home.

The plan includes reserving one traffic lane for emergency vehicles and prioritizing a lane on 4th Avenue for WeGo buses. Metro will also roll out its first phase of bollards, or barricades, to enhance pedestrian safety.

The Titans also now have scooter and bike valet available at games, so people can leave their equipment like a coat check, and pick it up when they leave the game for free.

NDOT plans to use LiDAR technology to analyze the effectiveness of its new pilot program.
