Flags to be flown at half-staff to honor Mount Carmel officer

In Mount Carmel, Tenn., Mayor John Gibson announced a directive on Tuesday to lower all town flags to half-staff until October 18. This gesture is in remembrance of Officer Mark Lindsey.

Mount Carmel Police Chief David Larson praised Officer Lindsey in a statement, noting, “Officer Lindsey embodied the principles of bravery, empathy, and professionalism. His commitment was evident in every emergency response, mentorship of younger colleagues, and interaction with the community, consistently surpassing expectations.”

The town’s officials have urged local businesses and residents to also lower their flags or find personal ways to honor Lindsey’s contributions and memory.
