Popular rice brand issues nationwide recall: FDA

NEW YORK (WPIX) — A nationwide recall has been issued for a well-known rice brand after reports surfaced of small stones being found in the product.

This recall specifically affects select batches of Ben’s Original Long Grain White, Whole Grain Brown, and Long Grain & Wild Ready Rice. Consumers may have purchased these products at major retailers such as Target, HEB, and Amazon.

The problem originates from the rice farm, where stones have inadvertently mixed with the rice. If these stones are ingested, they could cause injuries to the mouth or digestive system, according to the recall notice.

Ben’s Original has assured customers that this is an isolated incident, confined to these specific batches. “No other Ben’s Original™ products are impacted,” the company stated in their recall announcement. Emphasizing their dedication to transparency, Ben’s Original is actively working to remove the affected products from store shelves and inform consumers of the issue.

Consumers are advised to check the batch codes and best-by dates, which are located on the bottom seal at the back of the package, to determine if their purchase is part of the recall.
