TAMPA, Fla. (AP) – A significant number of truck driving schools across the United States, nearly 44% of the 16,000 in operation, are at risk of closure if they fail to retain students following a federal review. The Transportation Department has identified that these schools may not be adhering to established governmental standards.

On Monday, the Transportation Department announced its intention to strip approximately 3,000 schools of their certification unless they align with training regulations within the next month. These institutions are required to inform their students that their certification status is endangered. Additionally, another 4,500 schools have been cautioned that they might face similar consequences.
