COLES COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — Veterans in Coles County have a new spot to access the resources they’ve earned.

The Coles County Veteran Support Coalition opened a new location at the Mattoon train station yesterday. The office will help veterans access services like training classes, trauma help and financial assistance. The coalition treasurer said the new office makes the center more accessible to veterans in the county.

“I think it’s just kind of an extension of what we do, and we’re just thrilled because we’ve got the historical society over there that’s dedicated to the veterans who served, answered the call from Coles County,” said Connie Jones. “And then we get a chance to meet with them in real life. So, it’s good.”

The office is located on the ground level of the train station in Mattoon. Office hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and resources are always available through appointments.
