URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — All of Champaign County’s offices and departments are officially in their new home in downtown Urbana.
Aaron Ammons, the County Clerk and Recorder, said his office completed its move into the Bennett Administrative Center in downtown Urbana this week. According to the Champaign County website, Ammons’ office was the last to make the move into the building.
“This move has been completed much sooner than anticipated due to our dedicated staff members and hard-working movers,” Ammons said. “In addition to being thankful for our staff, we are also thankful for the patience of the public these past few days as we have worked to get our office moved.”
The vast majority of his office’s services are now operational.
The Bennett Administrative Center, formerly County Plaza, was purchased by the county in 2022 and renamed in honor of the late State Senator Scott Bennett. The building was renovated between 2023 and the spring of this year, and the county’s offices and departments started moving into the building in April.
A formal dedication of the building is being planned. Information on this event will be posted on the county’s website when details become finalized.
