BURTON, S.C. — On Wednesday night, a collaborative response from the Burton Fire District, MCAS Fire & Emergency Services, along with Beaufort County EMS and the Sheriff’s Office, was prompted by a structure fire on Glaze Drive in Burton.

Emergency teams arrived just before 10:00 p.m. to find a house completely engulfed in flames. Amidst the chaos, screams and explosions echoed through the night. Firefighters bravely entered the burning building, searching for anyone who might still be inside.

After a thorough search, it was confirmed that the house was empty. Prior to the arrival of emergency responders, an adult woman and two children had managed to escape the blaze. Additionally, an adult male initially thought to be inside was not present.

The woman was treated by Beaufort County EMS and transported from the scene with injuries that were not life-threatening. The incident left the family without a home.

Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire.
