ORLANDO, Fla. – One Orlando family shared their story Friday morning to raise awareness about a rare condition on Breakfast With Bridgett.

Kris and ReAijah Horne talked about their sons Keelan and Kye battling Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a rare, but severe muscle wasting condition.

Duchenne impacts mostly males, with 15,000 living with the condition in the U.S. and 300,000 globally.

Keelan just received a groundbreaking gene therapy that’s already showing signs of improvement.

A close family friend and New York Jets defensive assistant coach Ryan Davis, who played football with Kris at Bethune Cookman University, wanted to find a way to show support for the family and raise awareness about Duchenne.

Through the NFL’s annual My Cause My Cleats campaign, Davis had custom Nike sneakers designed for auction to benefit cureduchenne.org
