NHC Identifies New Area of Interest in Atlantic Following Imelda and Humberto

ORLANDO, Fla. – A tropical wave is expected to move off of Africa by the end of the week.

The disturbance is then expected to interact with another disturbance already in the eastern Atlantic.

After that, some slow development is possible as the disturbance moves through the Central Atlantic.

The National Hurricane Center gives this disturbance a 20% chance over the next seven days.

Hurricane Imelda is a Category 2 storm as it approaches Bermuda.

Humberto is a strong post-tropical area of low pressure in the North Atlantic.

The next named storm of the 2025 hurricane season is Jerry.
