TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The National Hurricane Center has issued a tropical storm warning for parts of the Gulf Coast as a Tropical Depression Two advisory is in place.

As of 4 p.m. Saturday, a tropical storm warning for the Gulf Coast from Boca de Catan southward to Tecolutla was put into effect by the government of Mexico, meaning that storm conditions are expected within the next 36 hours.

Forecasters identified the center of Tropical Depression Two located near the Bay of Campeche as it continues to move west-northwest. It is expected to continue this movement for the next day or two, making landfall along the Mexico coast Sunday night before migrating further inland on Monday.

Maximum winds are near 30 mph with higher gusts. Some intensification is expected over the next day or so, as the depression is forecast to become a tropical storm before reaching Mexico’s coast.

Rainfall is expected and may total 3 to 6 inches with a maximum of 10 inches possible across Veracruz, San Luis Potosí and Tamaulipas. Flash and urban flooding are possible.
