ORLANDO, Fla. – The National Hurricane Center highlighted an area off the Southeast coast of the U.S. for possible tropical development over the next seven days.

Officially the NHC is giving the future disturbance a 10% chance to develop tropical characteristics over the next seven days.

A handful of members of the European model ensembles develop a weak system as it moves along the Carolina coastline and eventually out to sea.

Regardless, heavy rain and gusty winds will be possible as this disturbance slides up the Mid-Atlantic coast away from Florida.

This disturbance will be developing along a stalled front, the same one that brought Florida some relief from the humidity over the weekend.

This is a very common spot for tropical development in the season’s early stages.

The first name of the 2025 hurricane season is Andrea.

Hurricane season officially began June 1 and ends Nov. 30.
