CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley announced through social media Saturday that her mother has passed away.
Haley’s mother, Raj Kaur Randhawa, died on July 4, according to the post.
“She was feisty and fun, smart and witty, and deeply faithful and generous. I’m convinced she left us on 4th of July because she wanted to go out with a bang but the beauty of it all is that she loved this country and all it gave to her, my dad, and our family for over 50 years. She loved her family more than anything,” Haley wrote.
The news of her mother’s death comes a little over a year after her father, Ajit Singh Randhawa, died on Father’s Day 2024.
“My strength and determination came from her. I will forever be proud to say I am my mother’s daughter. I pray she is now holding hands with my dad once again,” Haley added.
Haley served as governor from 2011 to 2017, before becoming the United States Ambassador to the United Nations. She also ran for the Republican presidential nomination in 2024.
