PLEASANT PLAINS, Ill. (WCIA) — The Springfield Fire Department responded to Pleasant Plains over the weekend, to provide mutual aid after a structure fire was reported.
The fire broke out in a building near the intersection of Prairie Creek Road and North Farmingdale Road Sunday evening. The Pleasant Plains Fire Protection District said that when they arrived, the building was completely engulfed. Several additional agencies were called in to assist.

The Springfield Fire Department responded, and asked residents to avoid the area while fire fighters worked to extinguish the fire. County law enforcement responded for traffic control, and Prairie Creek Road was shut down for a time.
The Pleasant Plains Fire Protection District thanked the responding agencies. This included the Springfield Fire Department, Sangamon County Rescue Squad, Ashland Fire Department, New Berlin-Island Grove Firefighters & EMS Squad and the Sherman Fire Protection District.
