LAKE GEORGE, N.Y. (NEWS10) — 9-year-old Melina Frattolin, who had been reported missing out of Lake George Saturday night, has been found dead, according to New York State Police. An AMBER Alert for her disappearance, issued early Sunday morning, has now been cancelled.
According to State Police, at about 9:58 p.m., the Warren County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a man reporting his daughter — identified as Melina Frattolin — missing, with a possible abduction, near Exit 22 on the Northway. The initial AMBER Alert had also reported that the 9-year-old was last seen in a white van heading southbound.
The caller was reportedly identified as Frattolin’s father, 45-year-old Luciano Frattolin. Both the father and child were residents of Canada, police said.
Initially, the investigation was led by the Warren County Sheriff’s Office. However, as the case continued, law enforcement officials reportedly began to find “inconsistencies in the father’s account of events and the timeline he provided.”
Melina Frattolin was found dead on Sunday in Ticonderoga. According to State Police, at this time, there is no indication that an abduction occurred.
An investigation is ongoing, now led by New York State Police. There is reportedly no threat to the public. A media event is expected for Monday.
