ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Last week, we shared the story of Oakley, a 1-year-old pup with a cleft lip who had been waiting patiently at Orange County Animal Services.

Despite his sweet personality and playful energy, Oakley was often passed by – just because of how he looked.

But that all changed thanks to the power of community.

After we featured Oakley on our live stream and shared him to our social media army, his story reached a woman all the way in Clearwater. Touched by his journey, she made the drive to Central Florida to meet him in person, and it was love at first sight.

Oakley is now adopted and officially headed home, proving that every animal deserves a second chance, no matter how they look.

If you’ve ever thought about adding a furry friend to your family, let this be your sign.

Visit your local shelter. Adopt. Don’t shop. You might just find your very own Oakley.
