Ocala Police Seek Help After Drive-By Injures Mother and Child

OCALA, Fla. – Ocala police are seeking the public’s assistance after a drive-by shooting wounded a mother and her 5-year-old child.

The shooting was reported at about 9:45 p.m. Monday in the area of the 1200 block of SE 11th Avenue.

According to an Ocala Police Department social media post, a father, mother and their young child were traveling south when a vehicle behind them began firing. Their vehicle was struck multiple times. The mother and child were both hit by gunfire and taken to a local hospital, where they remain in stable condition.

Investigators believe the Ocala shooting was an isolated incident and said it is not linked to a homicide reported Sunday.
