SAVANNAH, Ga () — Octane Bar and Lounge is back open after losing its liquor license in September.

The city shut the bar and lounge down after multiple criminal incidents, including one that left 37-year-old Tristan Manigault dead.

The Savannah Police Department completed an undercover investigation, revealing their security staff didn’t follow certain protocols. For example, serving underaged customers. When closed, business owners, who did not want to be on camera, told News 3 it was a ‘really quiet’ atmosphere.

Savannah Mayor Van Johnson spoke about the reopening on Tuesday.

“I hope they don’t blow it,” Johnson said. “You know, they’ve made some assurances to us.  We think that there was more that they can do to help ensure the safety of their patrons.  You know, there won’t be a next time.  There won’t be.”

The bar will be on a six-month probationary period which will include adjusted operation hours. The business will be open until midnight Sunday through Thursday and shut down at 1 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.

They will be expected to meet with the ABC Unit monthly, have dually certified police that have jurisdiction in the area and adhere to the good neighbor agreement.

Businesses told News 3 that so far, it’s been quiet and that they hope it remains that way well after the probationary period is over.

When asked to speak with Rajendra Patel, the owner of Octane Bar and Lounge, he said he had no comment at this time.
