Fire reported about a mile offshore

4 rescued from burning sailboat off Cape Canaveral (Cape Canaveral Fire Rescue)

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. – Four people aboard a burning sailboat were safely rescued by a bystander’s boat on Saturday, according to Cape Canaveral Fire Rescue.

Officials said the 61-foot boat was fully involved about a mile offshore of Cape Canaveral when all four people were evacuated to the bystander’s boat.

According to Cape Canaveral Fire Rescue, the rescued boaters were then brought to shore by the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office. No injuries were reported.

Officials said the Coast Guard and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is investigating the blaze.

No other information was released.
