Ogeechee Tech Achieves Milestone: Surpasses 'IGOT' Campaign Fundraising Goal with Record Contributions

STATESBORO, Ga. — Ogeechee Technical College (OTC) recently concluded its “I Give to Ogeechee Tech” (IGOT) campaign with remarkable success, celebrating a milestone achievement.

During the college’s 2026 primary fundraising initiative, OTC managed to raise an impressive $1,025,375. This substantial amount is dedicated to directly supporting the college’s students.

“The IGOT campaign stands for ‘I Give to Ogeechee Tech,’ with its primary goal being to secure funds for student scholarships, which we consider paramount,” explained Larry Mays, OTC’s Vice President for College Advancement. “This year, we awarded over 150 scholarships to deserving students who need a bit of extra support to achieve their academic goals. Additionally, we allocate funds to emergency resources and invest in equipment essential for our various programs.”

“The IGOT campaign is ‘I give to Ogeechee Tech,’ and its purpose is to raise money mainly for our student scholarships, being the most important thing,” said Larry Mays, OTC vice president for college advancement. “We gave out a little over 150 scholarships this year to deserving students who need that little extra help to make it through. We also give to emergency funds and purchase equipment for a lot of our different programs.”

The donation total was announced at a celebration on April 2, held at The Market at Visit Statesboro.

“I’d probably say we had a little over two 200 people come and go that night,” Mays said. “We raised a little over one million dollars again this year, which was a big goal, and we did get past that…and all that money will go to deserving students.”

Students needing this aid will soon have their opportunity to apply.

“The scholarship portal will open on April 15,” Mays said. “We turn this around pretty quick and those scholarships will be for this coming fall and next spring. It’s a one-stop shop, so you fill out one application, and then we go through all the different scholarships, and the computer system actually helps us generate each scholarship that every student will be available. We go through and award the scholarships, usually early August.”

Mays added ways people can donate despite the campaign coming to an end.

“We’re always looking for people who want to support students or want to support OTC,” he said. “We do endowments each year. We do get a few endowments every year, and those endowed scholarships go on forever and ever…We do a big golf tournament in October that helps support both adult education and scholarships.
