One injured after shooting in Marion, Virginia

MARION, Va. (WJHL) — One person was injured after a shooting in Marion on Tuesday morning.

According to a news release from the Town of Marion, police responded to the 700 block of First Street just after 2 a.m. regarding a possible shooting.

Upon arrival, police found a man fleeing the scene with a gunshot wound in his upper shoulder, the release said.

The man was taken to a nearby hospital and later released.

“It was determined that the incident was a domestic dispute between husband and wife that resulted in the female firing a weapon and striking the male once,” the release stated.

The woman surrendered to law enforcement and was taken into custody.

An investigation remains ongoing and charges are pending, according to the release.
